Meal Planning

I get asked so often for a meal plan. I know it is so hard to get in the groove with meal planning but once you do, it saves you time and money as well as the stress of what do I make for dinner every night. I definitely go through phases with it but have found some simple tricks that have helped me.

  • Write down 4-5 meals for the week
  • Change up meals according to seasons (ie more salads in summer, soups, chili and stews in the fall and winter and a mix in spring as the days dictate)
  • Repeat meals that you or you and your family like
  • Try one new recipe a week on an evening that you have a little more time
  • Always add as many vegetables as you can to each meal which can also add a new variety to an old favorite (ie. taco Tuesday-chop up cabbage, jicama and cilantro for a side, saute some bell peppers and onions, don’t forget the guacamole and the salsa)
  • Have themed nights (ie. Mediterranean Monday, Taco Tuesday, Winter Soup Wednesday, Meatless Thursday and Fun Friday)
  • Make a list for groceries and separate into Produce, Pantry, Fridge, Freezer
